Looks like I was taking a break from blogging. I didn’t stop painting, so there are a few updates on the front page, if you’re interested 🙂 I’ve been doing some digital drawing, and got a couple of sketchy portraits. I feel it is very useful, especially if I’m planning to be more serious about real design. I also tried to paint pastry, more landscapes, portraits and sketching of course. It’s nice to be able to find time for it.
Like I wrote on Instagram today, I had a little surgery experience a couple of days ago, so the weekend was spent very much indoors. I was complaining lately that I don’t get time for myself, so viola, all the time in the world, here you go 🙂 It was nice to do some tiding up and elementary laundry with zero stress of needing to run somewhere. I also finally spent more time on the online watercolour course I purchased a month ago. I’m trying to be consistent and follow the sequence (even though it is hard, I’m not a complete novice and get slightly bored), but patience pays off. I decided to make this exercise using only one colour and explore the shapes of my brushes and try to find the perfect match between the objects I was trying to paint (this time herbs from my kitchen garden), and the brush shapes. It worked better than I expected. Now I have a nice pattern for probably napkins and kitchen towels. A friend of mine said it looks like it is painted with tea, and mom thought of coffee – very kitchen topics anyways. So I’m glad I didn’t skip it, I think I’ve gotten quite a nice piece here. I also got some ideas about floral ornaments and how to make them. I think there will be more – the plan is to go out into the wild and pick some flowers like I did when I was little, and then sit down and have a closer look at the plants.
I went to visit my dear Ania in Spain last week. It was so nice to get my piece of real summer and spend time with a person I love. We met in Barcelona for a couple of days and then went further to Valencia. I had a wonderful vacation.
One morning you wake up and see that the world is frozen. Now you rush. You skip the breakfast, shuffle on a scarf and a hat that you blindly grope in the closet so they make a hideous match with your pajamas’ trousers and a hoodie on top (Anna called my great homy outfits “Smilla’s” and she had a point) You breathe in cooled to -13 air and breathe out something close to zero, your hands in cut gloves get numb. Your neighbors look at you and think they’ve got something to discuss at afternoon tea. You get frozen like the world around you but feel that you’re already not absolutely useless today).
I’m not a sophisticated human being. Very simple things can make me happy, very girly things, actually. Sweets, oh, I adore chocolate, happy-looking accessorizes (funny hats and socks), delicious food, seeing something growing (my basilicum and coriander on the window sill, for ex.), when I give something to people and I know that’s exactly what they like, his arms…many things. And it’s so nice to be a not sophisticated human being from time to time; otherwise I have no idea how to feel good.
Aubergines are probably the prettiest vegetables. This summer at home I was eating mommy’s divine ragout and these guys are the main ingredient there. So, the other day we were in Lidl and I saw it on sale – didn’t manage to control myself. Now we have this beauty home. May be it’s not very ethical to take pictures of something you are planning to cook and eat the next day, but c’est la vie, natural selection. Even though it’s probably difficult for vegetables to compete with humans.
I’m very tired and bored in my mind today, so sexy aubergine sounds like a just right subject. Why sexy? Look at this feminine, almost Rubens’ shape. It’s definitely a she.
I’m planning to make this yummy stew and if I don’t fail the result will be shared, recipe attached 🙂
Hope to get more sociable in a couple of days and show some cozy pictures from this summer.
Okay, easy life is over. Now I”m a crazy nerd who has a lot to catch up with and the first deadline dated September, 25. I was interviewed for a job last Wednesday, and even thought I secretly hope they will take me, my rational part says NO! Because then I don’t know how to combine it all. It also means that I’ll be doing something here at the weekends only, but I’ll try to do some nice stuff.
Here the whiny part is over and I’m turning to what I actually was planning to write. Color Matches. I’m a colour freak. I have a real thing for it. In clothes, interior, sometimes even on my plate (oh, this is the worst but happily doesn’t happen very often). When I was 12, I thought that I can wear only blue, beige and black, because these colors look best together. Later, like many others, I was in my black period, which was quite a loooong time. But growing up (oh, still hope I’m doing it) I’ve got much more tolerant towards a wider spectrum, even some weird combinations make me happy today.
Being so colour-sensitive, I pay a lot of attention to the colours that surround me. So this series of pics is about matching colours 🙂
